EU - India collaboration to push agricultural Resources Efficiency to the next level Venlo, The Netherlands New Delhi, India On June 25th 2021, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Noble Environmental Technologies Europe BV (ECOR) signed a Letter of Intent cementing their plans of a joint collaboration under the EU’s Resource Efficiency Initiative (EU-REI). EU-REI aims to support India in the implementation of the United Nations global sustainable consumption and production (SCP) agenda to foster the efficient and sustainable use of natural resources by way of adapting international standards and best practices in business on resource efficiency. It seeks to achieve this through the assessment of Indi̇a’s current and future needs for resources, facilitating partnerships between EU and India stakeholders, and raising awareness on the need for resource efficient and circular economy approaches in India. Whereas GIZ, together with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Confederation of the Indian Industry (CII)and adelphi, leads a consortium for the implementation of the EU-financed Resource Efficiency Initiative (EU-REI) project, ECOR strives to reconfigure today’s production and consumption systems by implementing a sustainable way of resource utilisation, based on the principles of a circular economy. ECOR - Enabling, co-Creation, co-Operation, and co-Responsibility -is a high performance, clean, VOC-free panel that is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. ECOR upcycles fiber-based residues from agricultural, industrial, or urban production & consumption cycles to create panels for applications in amongst others furniture production, the built environment, displays and signages. Focusing on agricultural production cycles and specific rice, paddy, straw in India, this signed Letter of Intent emphasises the LOI partners’ agreement to cooperate on activities such as:
Data collection and analysis of crop residue value-chain with the sustainable and impact driven execution plan
Business models to be piloted at one demonstration site in the State of Andhra Pradesh by 2023
Outreach, awareness raising campaigns for product dissemination and workshops to create awareness about ECOR’s material value chain;
In co-development with Circular Economy Material Excellence Centre (CEMEC) create centres where learnings can be shared.
