Resource Efficiency: Demolition & Construction Sector

Jul 4, 2017

This video was produced under the project “Fostering Resource Efficiency and Sustainable Management of Secondary Raw Materials” (in short: Resource Efficiency). Resource Efficiency (RE) was a three year project (April 2014 - July 2017) and was funded by The German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU), under its International Climate Initiative (IKI), commissioned to GIZ to implement jointly with the Indian Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India. The focus of the project was on the resource efficient utilisation of raw materials, especially minerals and metals, since they are required by the fast growing industry and thus critical to the Indian economy. The primary focal areas of the RE project were Automotive Sector and Construction and Demolition, due to their high volume of resource consumption and high expected growth rates. EU-REI is carrying forward the work on enhancing resource efficiency in the Buildings and Construction Sector with a focus on the use of alternative input materials including secondary raw materials derived from construction and demolition waste.
